Flavorful meatballs with a Creole twist that are slowly cooked in a savory red sauce. They make a great comfort food.
Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped parsley
- 1 egg
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can 28 oz crushed tomatoes
- 1 bell pepper, chopped
- 1 celery stalk, chopped
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
Put the egg, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, and ground beef in a bowl
Mix everything together well
Make meatballs out of the mixture that are about an inch across
Crush the tomatoes and add them to a slow cooker
Add the onion, garlic, bell pepper, celery, thyme, oregano, paprika, salt, and pepper
With care, add the meatballs to the slow cookers sauce
Put the lid on and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours or high for 3 to 4 hours, until the meatballs are done and the sauce is tasty
Serve hot on top of rice or pasta that has been cooked
