This raw apple pie filling with dates is gluten-free and tastes great. Its also better for you than traditional cooked fillings. Apples and dates give it natural sweetness, and warm spices make it even better. Its great for raw pies or as a healthy snack.
Ingredients:
- 4 medium-sized apples, cored and thinly sliced
- 1 cup pitted dates, chopped
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans optional
Instructions:
Slice the apples and chop the dates and put them in a large bowl
Add the cinnamon and nutmeg to the apple and date mix
Add the lemon juice and toss the ingredients so that they are all covered
If you want to add more texture, you can fold in chopped pecans or walnuts
Put the bowl in the fridge with the lid on for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors mix
Spread it on gluten-free raw pies or eat it by itself
